The research I’m currently completing is looking at the family structure and family relationships within a family containing an adolescent suffering from Bulimia and a previous history of substance abuse. By analysing the way that members talk in a family interview to each other it can lead to greater understanding of why there are difficulties in relationships.

For example if one parent was to blame another individual in the family and remove and personal responsibility that they may have or to explain away the problems with genes or biology explanations. Once a scenario is identified it could be discussed within a family therapy session which is a safe environment.
